Did you know that the inventor of the Segway died by riding one off a cliff? Do you happen to know what the Very Hungry Caterpillar ate on Monday? Do you know who the oldest person to ever be inaugurated US President is? If so, you might have come in handy as these questions, and many more, were asked and answered at the WRFC Charity Quiz night on June 9th.
This year WRFC has partnered with The Alzheimer’s Society to raise money and awareness of the work they do in research and support for those suffering from this disease. On the night itself 11 teams of people came together to do battle over a number of rounds, from music to picture rounds and everything in-between, all with the aim of raising as much money as possible for our charitable partner. Prizes on the night included two Badminton Rackets, a meal out for two and a couple of tailored shirts. Much thanks must go to the companies that supported the event, these included Ashaway, Bill’s, TM Lewin, Shepherd Neame and Tunnocks. The real thanks and praise though goes to the club members, once again they have shown themselves to be generous to a fault, not only buying tickets for entry but also donating extra money on the night meaning the total raised has been truly staggering. Currently there is over £1,700 pledged through the JustGiving page, and with the Quizmaster’s employer set to match our donations we could be looking at a grand total of over £3,400 for a wonderful cause.
So if you think you do know the difference between Dr Brian Cox and Dr Bunsen Honeydew, or if you just want a good night out with great company, make sure you put your name down for next year!
Should anyone wish to make a further donation they can do so here
