Elite players choose WR&FC

Badminton News

WR&FC not only offers training/coaching opportunities for junior players but also for players looking to play badminton at the highest elite level in the senior ranks.  Initially set up in 2008 to help home grown players Robert Kettle (former England Number 6) and Ben Beckman (former England number 3) it grew to end up housing players from not only England but also players from Denmark, New Zealand, Denmark, Sweden, and India.  At present WR&FC is the main training venue for England Number 1 and 3 Ladies Singles players Fontaine Chapman and Georgina Bland, England Number 3 Men’s Singles player Toby Penty, as well as two upcoming Surrey players Luke Pearce (England Number 11 Men’s Singles) and Sam Lyle (England Number 18 Men’s Singles). *rankings as of September 2017.

In 2017 WR&FC wanted to increase its involvement in helping players who were wishing to take badminton as a career path.  A criteria was created where differing levels of support from the club would be given dependant on a player’s level, achievements and dedication.  Download the criteria at the bottom of this page.

If you are interested in training full time at WR&FC then please email our Head of Badminton, Ben Beckman on ben@wimbledonclub.co.uk  with your name, age, category and a bit about yourself and your badminton level.  Not all applicants will be accepted.
